The Last of Winter.... I Hope!!!

It has been a LONG winter here. Every time we think it is over, it isn't. I'm sharing some pretty winter pictures and I HOPE I cannot take any more winter ones this year! I sure feel ready for spring.

Last year, I planted some of my garden on February 1 and the year before it was the middle of February. That was very unusual for us, but both years it worked and we enjoyed early crops. This year is different. We still had hard freezes over the weekend and a frost last night and this is the middle of April. I am thankful, though, and I have enjoyed the winter beauty that God has blessed us with and I hope you are enjoying it also.

These seagulls on the ice caught my attention.

This guy looked like he was cold!   :)

 Love the snowy country road....

We moved last fall and we now live in the country... and have a small section of woods, so I loved taking pictures there. One son built a bridge over a dry creek  and it looked pretty after an ice storm.  We really didn't get any snow from that storm... all that you are seeing in this picture is either ice or sleet.

We LOVE being in the country and I will be sharing more pictures. I hope you enjoy country nature scenes also.  I'd love to hear your comments on the pictures if you wish to share any.

Winter was beautiful.... it was just long. Hopefully my next pictures will be spring pics.  :)  Have a great week!

  1. Great pictures, as always! :) I thought the gull pictures were stunning. I didn't know they had a red ring around their eyes.
You have moved! That sounds exciting! I am sure you will have fun making the new place your home. You seem like you enjoy making your house a home. All your painting and decorating at your old place was beautiful. I hope you can share more pictures from your country home. You have some great scenery. :)

    1. Thank you! I don't know that gulls always have that red ring around the eyes... I know there are many various types of gulls. I do plan to share pictures of our work at the new house in the country... so exciting... and a LOT of work! It is SO good to hear from you again and to get back to blogging a little. Thank you for visiting. :)

  2. I love your winter pictures but, you are right, winter has outstayed her welcome this year! After near 60 degree temperatures yesterday, the forecast for tonight is near freezing again. :( Spring will come when it’s ready, I suppose. Welcome to the country! We moved to my husband’s family farmily farm in 2016 and we love it. Enjoy the peace and quiet! By the way, I enjoy reading your blog without all of the ads so many bloggers use these days. I haven’t blogged for awhile; just don’t feel I can keep up with all of those “professionals” but that’s not why I started in the first place. Anyway, I do enjoy your lovely photography and blog!

    1. It has been a long winter and those higher temps have certainly "teased" us.... but it has gone back to the deep cold each time. Spring will actually get here soon.. and it seems it may be here this week, I hope. :)

We are loving living in the country... a whole new way of life and we love the quiet and nature even as we are staying very busy. Thank you also for your comment about my blog.... I, too, hate all of the advertising that dominates many blogs. If I ever do add any, it will not be as intrusive as many blogs have them. I know what you mean about the "professional" bloggers who have multitudes of followers and make so much money, and that can be intimidating, though you are right... that's not why we started blogging in the first place. Thank you so much for your sweet and encouraging comment.

I do have another blog also, if you are interested. It is similar to this one, though also has more homemaking hints and ideas. It is called Gentle Joy Homemaker, if you are interested in checking it out. Thank you so much for visiting. :)
