We see signs warning us.... Caution, Danger, and more. They warn us to be watchful... to be extra aware... extra careful. Sometimes they tell us to keep out.... or no tresspassing.... sometimes they say the floor is wet.... or the bridge is out... or do not cross when water is on the road... or lake warnings that the water is too rough...
Many people pridefully disregard such warnings.... a spirit of rebellion drives some to do what they want.
Every year, many people put others in danger by such an attitude... people have to be rescued because of their own foolishness... from flooded rivers, from mountains, from construction sites... and sometimes those who rescue them end up dying.... all because of one person's foolishness in ignoring the cautions.... in not being wise.
Some signs are big, some are little....
Some are verbal, some are written... others are posted.
Men working with big machinery is an area for caution... it isn't safe to play in the area... in fact, it is best to stay away... go around the area.... and stay safe.
Such an area can be appealing.... it can look really fun.... but it is only an area for those trained to be there...
In fact, it is fashionable in our culture to push the limits... to test the boundaries... to say, "I have my rights!" There is even a law that says that features, like swimming pools and more.... on PRIVATE property can be called an attractive nuisance... and the owner can be held liable for injuries to the person who trespassed to get to it. It seems so silly... so ridiculous...... and it is really very sad. The rebellion of people who think it is okay to climb a water tower... to trespass in an abandoned building... to climb on a roof ... to enter someone's home.... and more.... even when it is not theirs... all because there was no sign posted saying they couldn't... or because a door was left unlocked.... or just because they wanted to. So sad.
More big machines moving dirt... kids love moving dirt and sand... and this is even better because it uses BIG scoops.... BUT the signs warn people to stay away.
Those who ignore the signs can run into problems.... and hurt themselves... or others.
Cautions.... Warnings... we get them and sometimes we ignore them. Maybe it's a speed limit sign that is ignored and a ticket results... or an overdue bill notice... or a stop sign that we roll through.. or other warnings. Wisdom would say to heed the cautions. Sometimes rebellion says "I can do what I want!" "They can't tell me what to do." and more.
Some warnings come from our bodies... pain that warns of infection..... little health problems that if ignored, become big health problems.
God gives cautions also.... lots of them. He lovingly warns us to be careful. He tells us to forgive... to guard our heart.... to not allow sin to control us.... to trust Him, to love Him, to obey Him.... He also tells us that a day of judgement is coming and only those who repent and trust Jesus will go to heaven... all others will go to hell. It is a warning... It is lovingly given.
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41
"Commit thy way unto the Lord: trust also in Him; and he shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5
We can look at the cautions God gives and rebel... or we can look at the cautions God gives and be thankful for the warnings. He wants the best for us... I hear people who say that God just ruins their fun... what an awful thing to say... or believe. Maybe there should be a caution sign over our heart... oh, that's right... God already wrote one. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9 We have the ability to deceive ourselves... and we need to keep evaluating what we believe... is it true?
God tells us to rejoice in the Lord... to let your moderation be known.... to be thankful... to praise Him... to be content... to flee temptation. Sometimes, we face troubles in life because of our own disobedience to God's Word... and we should evaluate to see if something is wrong in our life... and fix it.
God's Word needs to be our standard.... and we should be wise enough to obey it. Are we heeding the Cautions?

So very true! He is so faithful to warn us, and we would be so wise to take heed. Praying for you, sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you.... I am also praying for you. I do appreciate God's cautions to us... more so the wiser I get... I see them differently than when I was childish and just wanting my own way.
DeleteThank you for the good reminder! <3
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.... :)
DeleteI love this. I have become more aware of the cautions and signs God sends me. The last time I outright ignored His prompting I put myself, my health, and my life at risk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
xoxo
I have become better at it also... what a shame that we ignore His prompting... I'm so glad to be wiser than I used to be. :) Thank you for visiting.
DeleteWow just when I needed a guiding hand, your post is well received.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing on Friday Feature this week, I appreciate it.
I hope you enjoy your week, Karren
God does tend to bring along what we need at the right time... I'm so glad. :) I hope you have a wonderful week.
DeleteSo thankful for a God who loves and cares for us enough to give us ample amount of "warning signs". Thank you for sharing at Grace & Truth this week!
ReplyDeleteThat is so true... when we miss those warning signs...it isn't His fault. Thank you for the link up party. :)
DeleteThank you for sharing! What a good reminder to be aware of God's gentle prompting.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.... so glad you stopped by. :)
DeleteThis is so true. Many times God gives us warnings, we just need to make sure that we listen and heed to the warnings.
ReplyDeleteYes, we do.... why do we sometimes ignore those warnings when we know it will cause us problems? It sure seems silly and yet we do it at times.. Thank you for visiting. :)
DeleteI so often hear people say, "Why does God allow (this or that) to happen, and yet, the only way He could stop those things is to take away our choices and make us puppets. We have choices, but God is "full disclosure." He's always instructing us in the right choices and warning us of the results if we don't. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great comment... thank you.... a good reminder that we need to make good choices.
DeleteSo true! God does give us warnings and yet we like to ignore them and then blame Him for what happens. I'm a work in progress though so still I do ignore some of those warnings. Yet He continues to love me through it.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a blessing! I am so thankful that He continues to love us as we stumble along in our learning.
DeleteWhat a vividly painted picture on the importance of heeding the warning of the Holy Spirit! While reading this I immediately begin to examine my own life to look for areas where I was not heeding caution signs. Thank you for posting this to Motivate and Rejuvenate Monday
ReplyDeleteWe need to make sure we are listening for warning signs.

Yes, we do... it is so tempting at times, to ignore them... and it is so silly. God does know best.
DeleteWhat a wonderful post, dear friend! You worded everything perfectly and it was a gentle reminder for me to heed the warnings. Thank you very much for sharing at ROI. May the Lord richly bless you.
ReplyDeleteThank you... I am reminded to heed those warnings... usually the physical ones, for me..... although there are certainly others that I have to review often also.
DeleteFound you on the blog hop and I must start off by giving you a standing ovation! What absolute truth about needing to heed to warning signs that are all around and even within us. God has also given us intuition to just "know" when something is not right. Thank you for your words of wisdom. Nice to meet ya!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and precious comment..... I find that the more we heed that still small voice, the more we hear and recognize it.
DeleteFantastic and much needed post, thank you for sharing this at Good Morning Mondays. Blessings
ReplyDeleteThank you... I am so glad you visited. :)
DeleteI've also heard the saying... God will hit you with pebbles before he hits us with boulders. Work to heed those warnings and God will be there with you. : )
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up with Turn it Up Tuesday.
DeleteI haven't heard that saying, but it is a good one. I appreciate you sharing it.... Thank you for visiting and for the great link up party. :)
DeleteI love this post. The one that gets me is the "do not cross tracks" sign in all our local rail stations. So many ignore this sign. Thank you for sharing on #wednsdayswisdom
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy to think that the signs are talking to others and not to us... but that is just not true. Thank you for visiting. :)
