It is nice to be able to search through so many books....
In our world today, books are not treasured as they once were... now people read on kindle, on their phone, on a computer... but I still like a "real" book... one that I can hold in my hand... one I can make notes in or highlight... and the book becomes so much more useful to me.
I have bought many books at garage sales, library sales, other book sales... and I enjoy them... and we use our books. I have sometimes found books in new shape... even wonderfully bound Bibles. I talk to the people at the sales and have found many people who are selling their books because they don't need them anymore... they just use their electronic books. Some people no longer have ANY books in their home... only electronic books... including the Bible..... so if the grid goes down... these people don't even have a BIBLE? Wow. Anyway... I will buy them.... :)
This is one of those... this book was tucked down in and I missed it the first time through... and I almost missed it the second time through.
I tend to buy books for reference...and I bought herb books, health books, gardening books and more...
I like books and I look forward to using my new books... and putting them into our library so they will be available when I need them.
I also need to go through my books and pull the ones I no longer need... this is an important step. :) Otherwise we have too many books and not enough room.
I was pleased with my purchases... the paperback books were 75c each and the hardcover were $1.50. I think I got my money's worth. :) I was sad to find out that this particular church book sale will no longer be holding book sales, but I know God will continue to provide through other sales.

Lucky you! I saw some books in the pictures I think I would have loved! I too have resisted the "kindle" effect, and still love my paper bound books! Cookbooks are a particular weakness for me, as well as old classic writings, especially by Catherine Marshall, and others. Have fun reading your new treasures!ReplyDelete
It was indeed a fun treasure of books that I brought home and I am enjoying them..... I am so thankful to increase my herb book collection... and others... Thank you for visiting. :)Delete
I know what you mean...I like to actually hold a book in my hands! I guess you and I are kindred souls and from the "old school". My aunt was just saying last night, she wonders what people would do "should the lights go out" and there were no electronics. I just prefer the old ways. So thankful you were able to find such great bargains on books you really love. :) I am praying for you, sweet friend. :)ReplyDelete
What a joy to hear from you, Cheryl! :) I DO like many old school things... and my kids love to tease me about it as they try to talk me into using electronic devices for alarms, schedules, planning, etc.... just can't do it... I like paper and pen too much. I am getting better at doing writing on the computer instead of longhand, so I AM making progress. :) I am praying for you also......Delete
It's always nice to have a physical book in hand to read as compared to a PDF or e-books. Great that you were able to find some bargains.ReplyDelete
It is nice to have those "real" books and I am glad for the ones I was able to find..... :) Thank you for visiting.Delete
I love book sales! It looks like you got some good ones!ReplyDelete
I do too... and I think they are good ones... especially the ones I will be able to use again and again in research. :)Delete
I have a Nook but I still like the old fashion way of reading. Our local library district holds a book sale each year and I absolutely love it! We've gone so far as to park our car in the lot overnight so we get a close parking spot, lol. We always fill our trunk up so we need to be close. Thanks for sharing with us at Wake Up Wednesday Linky Party.ReplyDelete
Oh, wow... you ARE dedicated to getting those good deals on the books! :) I do have different book sales that I enjoy checking out each year... and I almost always find some good ones. :)Delete
Oh my.... look at all of those delightful books! I could spend hours there :) It looks like you found some wonderful books that will be enjoyed. Thanks, my dear, for sharing with Roses of Inspiration.ReplyDelete
It is fun to find those who also enjoy books... and book sales.... yes, I found some great ones...and will be enjoying them. :)Delete
That Amish Friends cookbook looks so interesting. I love books. I only read books, don't have a Kindle and don't have any electronic books, nor will I. I love the feel of books, love looking at covers and love having them on my shelf. It looks like you found some real keepers here.ReplyDelete
I agree with you... and I have several bookshelves full of books to show for it. :) I was thankful to find that cookbook and some other great resources. :) Thank you for visiting,.Delete
Oh, you found some great titles! I am with you! I need the tangible book in my hand, it just feels great :) And I like them as decoration too :)ReplyDelete
I am glad to have found some great ones... and I look forward to reading them. I also have been glad to find others who like books as much as I do. :)Delete
What fabulous finds! I also prefer to have an actual paper book in my hands when reading. Seems so much more cozy to me. Enjoy your new treasures!ReplyDelete
I do too.... and I like being able to go back to it if I want to. Thank you for visiting. :)Delete
I love Bargin books! We have a ton ourself here at home.ReplyDelete
They can add up, that's for sure... which is why I have to go through them periodically and get rid of the ones I don't use anymore. :) Thank you for visiting.Delete
Great book haul!! Books are something I love buying in bulk like this, too. Thanks for joining us at Idea Box. I hope you link up with us again this week! Party goes live at 6am Thursday.ReplyDelete
Books are such treasures.... and friends :) ..... thank you for visiting and I am glad to know the start time for the blog party... I will plan to arrive sometime after 6. :)Delete
Nice haul! Oh I so wish I could go to a book sale.ReplyDelete
Thank you... they are fun! Our library system has a yearly book sale also and I know of other public libraries who do the same thing... you might find the same in your area... or a thrift store or check on craigslist for book sale. I hope you find one to go to... they are fun. :)Delete
I'm glad I'm not alone. I can't seem to part with my books. Thanks for linking up and sharing with us at Funtastic Friday. I hope you can make it again this week.ReplyDelete
Me either... in fact, I just bought 4 more books today for a good deal. :) I love the Medicinal Plants book I found today for $1.... it will be so useful for identifying and using plants. Thank you for visiting...Delete
I love book sales! I also find great deals on books at second hand thrift store. Have a lovely week!ReplyDelete
I do too... what a blessing they are. I look at thrift stores sometimes also, but rarely get to them.... they are a good place to shop though. Thank you for visiting.Delete
I've found some wonderful treasures at book sales! Thanks for sharing @Vintage Charm!ReplyDelete
They can be so rewarding... and dangerous to the bookshelf room. sigh. I am finding it a good idea to keep evaluating my library and sending some away when I find many "new" good ones. :)Delete
